Our Practice is a teaching practice therefore we have Registrar Doctors visiting for six to twelve months at a time. We also have visiting Medical Students and patients may be asked if they mind students sitting in on their consultation.
Dr Ross Simpson
Ross Simpson has worked as a GP at Bay Centre since starting his training as a GP Registrar in 1995. He is experienced in all aspects of General Practice and has special interests in Travel Medicine, Skin Cancer and Men’s Health. In his spare time he can be found on his board at The Pass dropping in on backpackers and tourists
Dr Matthew Wood
MBBS (Melb), FRACGP, DRACOG
Dr Wood has qualifications & experience in Obstetrics & Family Planning, as well as extensive experience in adolescent health and drug rehabilitation. His particular interests are in Women & Children’s health, Psychological medicine, preventative and whole-person health care, with a science-based approach.
Dr Caryll O’Shaughnessy
Dr Caryll O’Shaughnessy is an experienced General Practitioner with special interest in women’s health including shared antenatal care,paediatrics, family planning and IUDs and Implanon.
Dr Greg Gover
MBBS(Syd), B.Hlth.Sc, FRACGP
Dr Gover has particular interests in paediatric health, diabetes and family medicine.
Dr Joel Hissink
Joel moved to the Northern Rivers after spending 19 years in the Royal Australian Navy. Joel was an officer in the navigation branch and a ship’s diving officer before studying medicine at the University of Sydney in 2004. Following his studies Joel worked at St George Hospital in Sydney for two years before joining the Navy’s Submarine & Underwater Medicine Unit at HMAS Penguin, Sydney in 2010. As the Officer-In-Charge from 2012, Joel was responsible for the medical care and selection of the Navy’s elite clearance divers and submariners as well as supporting Special Forces soldiers. He continues to provide service as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Reserves.
Joel lectures on diving medicine and is on the Executive Committee for the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society.
Joel’s special interests include children’s health (Diploma of Child Health from the Children’s Hospital Westmead, Sydney) and Skin Cancer Medicine/Surgery (Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine, Skin Cancer College of Australasia).
Having spent 2015 travelling around Australia with his wife and their three young children, Joel has now settled in the Northern Rivers.
Dr Georgia Wyatt
Dr Georgia Wyatt moved to this beautiful part of the world four years ago with her Husband and, now 4 year old, Son. She loves being a General Practitioner and is particularly passionate about Preventive Care.
Georgia has a Diploma of Child Health and a Diploma of Tropical Medicine (UK). She has a special interest in Paediatrics, Antenatal Care, Womens Health, Mental Health and Chronic Disease.
Georgia has practiced Medicine in Sydney, Darwin, Katherine and the Thai-Myanmar border. She has a background in Refugee and Aboriginal Health. She loves a run along the beach and spending time with her family.
Dr Neil Hannah
Dr Neil Hannah was went to medical school in Scotland and moved to Australia 10 years ago. He has worked at Bay Medical Center for 5 years in Suffolk Park, Byron Bay and also visits Feros Nursing Home. Dr Hannah has an interest in family medicine and paediatrics. He lives with his family on a small farm outside Bangalow. .
Dr Michaela Rickcord
She has a special interest in women’s health and holds the RANZCOG Diploma.
She offers pre conception advise, fertility assessment, antenatal care, support through menopause as well as contraception advise.
Dr Michaela performs Implanon and copper – as well as hormonal IUD insertions.
She offers full skin checks and performs minor surgical skin procedures.
Born in Austria Dr Michaela graduated from Medical University in Graz in 2005 and obtained her Fellowship in General Practice.
She moved to Australia in 2009 and spent a few years at the Gold Coast Hospital in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before locating to the Northern Rivers.
Michaela is a devoted mother, loves nature, the outdoors and her animals.
Dr Robyn O’Grady
Dr Robyn O’Grady enjoys the wide variety of general practice. She brings an added element to her work having worked extensively as a clinical and sports dietitian prior to her career change to medicine.
Robyn’s special interests are women’s health including antenatal care, and paediatrics. She is in the process of obtaining accreditation as a lactation consultant.
