Scripts and Referrals

Patients must make an appointment with their regular doctor (where possible) for script and referral renewal requests.

Long appointments

Must be booked in advance. These include;  pap smears, skin checks, excisions & mental health care plans, iron infusions, IUD and Implanons.

If you require an insurance medical examination or have a complex  problem(s) or think you may require a longer consultation, please book a longer appointment.

Electronic Communication

In line with Privacy and confidentiality concerns, Bay Centre Medical Clinic chooses not to send results or sensitive information using email. Although we have a high standard of internet security within our Practice, email has risks that other forms of communication do not. With your informed consent only will we consider this as an option.

Recalls and Reminders

Our Practice is committed to Preventative Healthcare.  We send reminders via SMS, phone or by letter. Please be sure to update any contact detail changes with reception staff.

Interpreter Services

Please notify reception staff if an interpreter is required for an appointment.

Zero tolerance policy

This medical practice has zero tolerance for abusive and/or threatening behaviour towards our team members. This includes shouting, swearing, aggressive actions, threats, inappropriate gestures and name calling. Please treat us as you would like to be treated yourself. If you are abusive or threatening, you will be required to leave the clinic and transfer your care to another practice. Appointments

Consultation is by appointment only. We offer a walk in clinic on a Saturday 8am-12 noon.

Please remember to call us first or book online.

Cancellations

Please notify us in advance if you no longer require or would like to reschedule your appointment time. If you miss your appointment twice without letting us know beforehand an appointment will not be given until a fee of $85 is paid.

  • Inappropriate use of social media can result in harm to patients and the profession, particularly given the changing nature of privacy and the capacity for material to be posted by others . Bay Centre Medical Clinic uses Social Media as a form of communication to our patients.

 

Privacy and Confidentiality

Your Medical File is handled with the utmost respect for your privacy at all times. Strict storage policies are observed within our Practice and your records are only accessed by staff under strict confidentiality agreements and password protected.

Feedback

We welcome your feedback as it helps us to improve the services we can offer to you. There is a suggestion box in our waiting room where you can anonymously leave your suggestion.

 

Contacting Your Doctor by Phone

We try not to interrupt your GP whilst in consultation. If our reception or Nursing staff cannot assist you with your query, depending on the circumstances they will either arrange an appointment time for you, or pass on your message. Your GP will try then contact you at the end of their consulting session. Urgent matters will always be dealt with immediately following our Triage policy.

Contacting Your Doctor by Email

We discourage you from trying to make contact with your doctor via email. Our email is not regularly monitored, and we cannot guarantee your email will be actioned in a safe, timely manner. Our practice email is reserved purely for correspondence by other medical third parties and not patients. Results

Bay Centre Medical Clinic requires an appointment with your doctor for all discussions regarding results. It is our policy that results are not given out over the phone. If a result is returned abnormal, or a review is necessary once these are received, you will be recalled for a follow up appointment by your doctor.

 

Fees

Doctors Consultation Fees

This is a guide only. Individual doctors may choose to charge under their own billing structure. This will depend on the duration and complexity of the consultation.  Therefore, there may be out-of-pocket charges for concession card holders or certain appointment types.

Item 3- Short Consultation $70– with Medicare. Without Medicare $80

Item 23- Standard Consultation $93- with Medicare. Without Medicare $103

Item 36- Long Consultation $133- with Medicare. Without Medicare $14

Item 44- Extended Consultation $173. With Medicare. Without Medicare $183

Healthcare Card Holders will receive a $10 discount.

Pensioner Card Holders and local children under 16 years will be Bulk Billed after their initial consultation.

Veteran Affairs Card Holder will be directly billed the VTA.

Saturday Fees

Unfortunately, Bay Centre Medical does not Bulk Bill Pensioners, Children or HCC on a Saturday. Medicare rebates simply have not kept pace with inflation and the cost of providing high quality general practice care. Regrettably our previous billing structure has become impossible to continue.
